The Rhode Island Troopers Association is a 501(c)(10) organization.

The Rhode Island Troopers Association represents the active sworn Non Commissioned Officers and Troopers of the Rhode Island State Police. We are committed to uphold the ideals, mission and tradition of the Rhode Island State Police.

In 2021, we’re celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the inception of the Rhode Island Troopers Association.

Today, members of RITA met with Retired MSP LT. Kevin Calnan, and made a donation to Cops for Kids With Cancer, an outstanding charitable organization focused on raising funds to provide assistance to families of children fighting cancer, to improve their quality of life.

Today, we remember fallen Rhode Island State Trooper Bradford Mott, who was killed while patrolling on his motorcycle on May 6, 1941. Trooper Mott gave his life while in the performance of duty and died upholding the highest traditions of the Rhode Island State Police.

“State Police started recruiting on April 1 of this year,” he said. “Currently we have about 380 applicants. We normally would expect about 2,000 applicants in the same time frame.”

The Rhode Island Troopers Association was founded in 1971.

The founding body consisted of a group of courageous men and women that began the RITA in order to better the working conditions for Troopers who worked six days a week and lived at the barracks.

We have Five members of the Executive Board.
The Rhode Island Troopers Association currently participates in various charity events and raises money for many local and state charitable causes. Examples of the these successful causes include, the Special Olympics of Rhode Island, Cops for Kids with Cancer, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and various other local youth activities.

Our Mission is to vigilantly protect, promote, and improve the working conditions, legal rights, compensation and benefits of Rhode Island Troopers Association.
